Queensland storms, floods, cyclones, heatwaves and bushfires can interrupt transport, power and regular services. A personal emergency plan can help you and your support network respond more confidently.

Plan around your individual needs

List essential medications, equipment, communication supports, mobility requirements and the people who need to be contacted. Consider what would happen during a power outage or if roads were closed.

Prepare essential information

Keep current contact details, health information and support instructions in an accessible place. Store copies securely and make sure trusted people know where to find them. Charge devices and backup batteries when warnings are issued.

Discuss service continuity

Ask providers how they communicate changes during severe weather and what backup arrangements are possible. Confirm how you will advise the team if you evacuate or your address changes temporarily.

Follow official advice

Monitor Queensland Government, local council and emergency service warnings. In a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero (000). Do not travel through floodwater.

Review the plan before each severe-weather season and after any change in health, equipment or living arrangements. Continuity Care encourages participants and families to include disability supports in household emergency planning.
